Teaching communication skills and nurturing professionalism in health sciences professions

The importance of systematic and continual training of healthcare professionals in nurturing professionalism (including communication skills) have been much debated among medical fraternity. Adequate training of healthcare profession teachers to nurture these unique areas is undeniably crucial. This workshop aims introduce basic concepts in professionalism and overview of techniques that can be adapted in various teaching situations. A unique blended learning technique will be used in this half-day workshop, with pre-workshop assignment, interactive small-group sessions during the workshop and follow-up support through dedicated digital media. The facilitators, apart from being experienced in teaching communication skills and professionalism in healthcare professions, are also from diverse fields of expertise.
