Dr Effat Omar

Chair of the Organizing Committee,

MAEMHS conference 2018

It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the MAEMHS conference 2018. We are tremendously honored to be chosen to organize this year’s conference.

Personalised learning has become a hot topic in recent years due to the easy accessibility of enabling technologies. This is evidenced by the ever increasing number of on-line courses on offer and the mushrooming of on-line learning applications that have empowered each and every one of us to learn whatever we wish. Indeed, personalized learning has been transported to a whole new level. In this conference, we will deliberate on the utilization of personalized learning in Heath Professional Education (HPE). Specifically in creating holistic, entrepreneurial and balanced health professionals.

An exciting program has been planned, to be delivered by distinguished speakers from Malaysia and abroad. Among them are YBhg Dato' Dr Hj Azman bin Hj Abu Bakar, representing the Deputy General of Health, Ministry of Health Malaysia; the largest employer of our graduates. Also, YBhg. Professor Datuk Dr. Asma Ismail, Vice Chancellor of Universiti Sains Malaysia, who will be sharing with us inspirational and insightful stories of her journey in HEP. Indeed, many more prominent members of the Malaysian HPE community will also be involved in this conference. At the end of the event, we will come up with a consensus statement on personalized learning in the Malaysia perspective, another exciting occasion to look forward to.

In addition, one pre-conference workshops and one post conference workshop are also on offer. The pre-conference workshop is on how to plan and execute personalized learning in HPE, conducted by the tech savvy International Medical University team headed by Assoc Prof Dr Kang Yew Beng.  The post conference workshop is a special workshop on communication skills for Family Medicine trainees.

Despite the extensive program, the conference fee is kept intentionally affordable, to allow for as many health professionals, practitioners and students to join in, in line with the society’s aspirations to promote sharing of experience and knowledge amongst members and non-members.

Last, but not least, we are celebrating innovation and knowledge contribution via submitted abstracts for scientific presentations by awarding the Rogayah Jaafar Health Profession Education Award.

The Selayang Campus of UiTM awaits you. Come one come all. We look forward to welcoming you to our ‘home’!

See you soon!
